Another fantastic turn out from the girls and the standard was superb! They worked so hard for both of the sessions, and we got some stunning goals and amazing saves to boot!

We had one player come and try Futsal for the first time – welcome Esmée, we hope you had fun and we look forward to seeing you again very soon!

We started the younger group with a simple pass and shooting exercise. We talked about the most important part of shooting was hitting the target. We progressed this onto two players combining to shoot, and finally some dribbling with a shot. We introduced a toe poke finish, explaining why this was the best type of finish in futsal.

Player of the week for the younger group was Naomi L – she might be the smallest and youngest member of the club but she has one huge heart. She never stopped running the whole session and her shooting improved 1000% from beginning to end. She is never shy to share her ideas and just loves tackling the bigger players! Simply put, superb!

The older group did a similar session to the younger group but we emphasised the techniques of how to improve accuracy and power when shooting. We worked on their finishing from just outside the D; could they constantly hit the target when running at pace or when dribbling from different distances?

Special mention to both goalkeepers, Heidi in the younger group, and Megan in the older group for making save after save after save. Both young ladies were outstanding and never once complained! Superb attitude from them both.

Player of the week for the older group was Emma S – She is one of the real characters in the group, and we wouldn’t change her for the world. Over the years we have found the best way to get the best out of Emma is constant communication, and she responds brilliantly! Oh, and what a goal by the way, simply stunning! Top young lady!

We worked the players really hard this week, the shooting sessions were constant with not much break. There were lots of repetitions and the standard definitely improved the longer the two hours went on. Well done to everyone for such a great attitude. See you next week for the 3 hour futsal charity marathon!
