We are delighted to have been awarded a grant from Always under their #KeepHerPlaying campaign, being delivered in partnership with Sported. The grant will be used to support the Ladies’ team through the 2022/23 futsal season.

The campaign says, ‘Taking part in sports isn’t about the cheers, or the wins, or the bragging rights. It’s about way more than that. Playing sports helps girls develop confidence and important life skills, such as resilience and discipline. It also helps girls to develop their self-esteem and improve mental health.

Yet nearly 1 in 3 girls drop out of sports during puberty, mostly because they don’t think they’re good enough or they don’t feel encouraged to keep playing.’

Chairman Chris said, ‘The ladies’ team is a a very big part of our club and last year it enabled us to fulfil our commitment to having a full pathway from U8s to open age female futsal teams. Last season we committed to having half of the ladies National League Futsal squad being made up of academy graduates, and we saw debuts for Denva, Lily, Hannah, Kim, Katie and Eleanor. This seasons we will also see Ellie and Ava making this progression. All these players are real role models to the younger female members in our club, really showing them that they can continue in sport throughout their teenage years.’

He went on to say, ‘Any funding we can secure allows us to keep our costs as low as possible, without sacrificing the standards of coaching, facilities and the experiences we can offer. This fantastic donation from Always is amazing and goes a long way to help us achieve this, a huge thank you from everyone at the club.’
