On Monday 23 January University of York Ladies Futsal Team entertained Bootham Ladies Futsal Team in a friendly at the University of York. The game was played over 4 periods off 20 minutes with a constant clock and Bootham used the game to give some of their exciting academy players game time.

Bootham were represented by: Ellie W (captain), Suzy C, Katie S, Elena R, Kim S, Ava W, Tiegan H, Heather S, Esmee R, Nikki B, Katie D, Sophie T, Evie C and Megan G.

After a close first first period Bootham settled into a good pattern of play and in the end ran out comfortable winners with pretty much everyone scoring. Goal of the night went to captain Ellie with her first time finish from Sophies’ corner.

After the game, Coach Chris said in conversation, ‘It was a really good game to watch. York University have massively improved and it wasn’t an easy win by any means. I was delighted at the way the academy players played tonight, they really showed what they are all about, and at times their futsal was breathtaking. To have 7 players U16 in this game show’s the depth this club currently has, and we are all excited by the future. I was a delight to give Esmee, Tiegan, Evie and Sophie their debuts at this level, and they all looked at ease. It was also pleasing to see how well Nikki settled in to the squad, and I was so pleased for her scoring as well.’
