On Saturday 23rd September Bootham Ladies play their first home game of the new season and it couldn’t be any harder. They are hosting Sunderland, last season’s northern champions and current tier 1 side.

Bootham have moved to a new venue for this season, with all home games now being played at St John’s University Sports Hall on Haxby Road. The game kicks off at 1.00pm with doors open from 12.30pm. Admission is £3 for over 18s and free for children and all Bootham Futsal Club academy players.

The game is being sponsored by iMAG

Industrial Motors and Gears Limited.

Coach Chris said in conversation, ‘We can’t wait to play our first home game of the new season, especially at the new venue. A huge thank you to St John’s University who have been fantastic in working with us. The ladies have worked so hard in training over the last month and are raring to go. We have pretty much a full squad to choose from and we are getting close to the stage that we have more players available than we are allowed in the match day squad, so competition for places is very heathy.’

He continued by saying, ‘This is the first game in a new cup format, with us playing in a mini league of 4 teams. Sunderland is a Tier 1 side and were league champions last season, so we know it is not going to be easy. We must show the pride and passion the ladies showed in the last game in Manchester, and who knows what the result might be? We hope you can pack the venue, make loads of noise, and let’s cause a cup upset!’
