We had out first game of the season this week, the U12s played Rawcliffe at St Peter’s, come back later in the week to read the match report and watch the highlights!

We had one player come and try Futsal for the first time – welcome Orla, we hope you had fun and we look forward to seeing you again very soon!

With the U12s playing later, the U10s had the whole of the court to themselves this week! After some fun relay races, in which both teams cheated really badly, we got down to the serious work of matches! It is so good to see these players really fighting for the ball, and not being scared of the contact or the opposition. The determination and desire this groups shows means the club is definitely in safe hands.

Player of the week for the younger group was Ava C – she does so well each and every week to come and play against the bigger girls, so today she really got stuck in. She even scored her first goal to top off a fantastic performance, well played, Ava!

Today we challenged the older girls to some one, two and three touch play. The temptation is to play really fast and forget you have limited touches. After a frantic first part, the girls calmed down and started using their touches to play some good futsal. We then changed it to either they played with one touch, or they had to have three touches. This helps the girls to play with their heads up and really think about what they are doing. We then took away all the restrictions but asked them to remember how they had just played. It is always interesting to see how the players react!

Player of the week for the older group was Madison – She is very new to futsal but her passing is superb and her finishing today was different class. She constantly plays with her head up and is always looking for that longest safest pass. We really hope she stays playing futsal as she is definitely a talent! Well done, Maddy!

A huge thank you to Andrew for his help with building our brand new goals on Saturday night, and contrary to popular belief we definitely did not build them wrong first time…

Next week we are at Millthorpe School as St Peter’s is hosting a frisbee event! We will send a map out later in the week! Don’t forget, have a fab week and we will see you for the last session before half term.
