Well another record breaking day, for the first time ever we had over 60 girls train on a Sunday! What a milestone and we are still getting requests for trials, the support for this club is staggering, thank you so much!

We had two new players come and try futsal for the first time – welcome Florence and Nak, we hope you had fun and we look forward to seeing you again very soon!

After lasts weeks session on following a specific player we move on to trying to follow two different players – each team had two sets of different coloured cones and you could only tackle the player who matched your colour. This isn’t an easy session as there is lots going on and plenty to think about, but the players did so well and we saw some fantastic play in all the age groups. We also did a small piece on trusting your teammates, make sure everyone was involved and working as a team, not individuals to achieve the goals. Fab session from so many of the players.

Player of the week for the first hour was Sofia C – She never stops running the whole session, such a great attitude. She is not one of the biggest but is also not scared to push the other players about and fight for the ball. Top young lady and one for the future. Fab session Sofia!

Player of the week for the second hour was Olivia A – This young lady always, and we mean always gives 100%, she is happy to talk and give her ideas, but listens when other people speak. She played brilliant today and was the star of the session. Well done Olivia!

Player of the week for the third hour was Lexie B – Another player who works her socks off and never stops running. She might not be the loudest in the session but her heart is bigger than most. She is an absolute delight to coach and never lets us down. Keep working hard Lexie!

Player of the week for the fourth hour was Katie D – One of the players we can’t wait until she is 16 for the ladies team. Such a huge step forward today – she played safe, applied the principles of the game, defender brilliantly, occupied some fanatics space on the court and scored a couple of cracking goals. Best session to date, keep it up Katie!

Final thoughts of a coach – we had 62 girls playing futsal this week…wow, thats a lot! From the youngest at aged 8 to the oldest at 16, the four hours just flew by. We remember when we had just 4 girls turning up for the first time to play…

Today we made a big thing of Ava, on her 16th birthday signing for the ladies team. She has been with the club for just under 4 years now and to see her development is brilliant to watch. She is the 8th player to come through from the academy to sign for the ladies team, and we have so many more coming through. Next season we should see another 4 or 5 make that next step, and it is a very big step to play in a national league. As a club, we are constantly looking at how we bring these players through, how we develop them and get them comfortable and confident at the next level. Our academy is going from strength to strength, with players at all age groups talking about playing for the ladies team. It’s exciting to sometimes sit back and listen to the conversations these young ladies have, we honestly can’t wait…
