Well after what seems like forever we had our first session of Season 5. The coaches were so pleased to welcome back, so many familiar faces and a new one!

We had a new player come and try Futsal for the first time – welcome Sophie, we hope you had fun and we look forward to seeing you again very soon!

The younger group started with a warm up run by Paul. It was a case of getting the girls back to playing with a futsal ball and getting them moving again. We did a lot of individual running with the ball, where the players choose which route the went, before shooting past Katie in goal. At first the girls went really slowly with the ball, and after a quick chat they went much faster, brilliant to watch. The coaches particularly enjoyed the great pace from Jean when attacking and great perseverance from Irma when trying to beat the defender.

The matches had the Reds Vs the Blues, with the some great finishing from both teams. It was so good to see all the girls working back to defend when their team was out of possession.

Player of the week for the younger group was Livia – We were seriously impressed by her calm finishing when though on goal, she drew the goalkeeper and place the ball into the ball of the net. She also worked her socks off, recovering back to defend when her team were out of possession. Great start to the new season Livia!

For the older groups warm up they worked on keeping possession of the ball in a tight area. After a few minutes the coaches reminded the girls that futsal is played with less touches over more touches! After this we worked on some full court 1v1s, 2v2s and finally 3v3s in which you could score in either goal. Great play from Heather in constantly reversing the goal she attacked, and great last ditch defending from Ellie, who never gave up out of possession.

The end games were based on 4v4 with lots of balls around the court for a quick restart. We really encouraged the girls to play at pace when they had the ball, but to be patient when the defence was set and try and build the attack.

Player of the week for the older group was Katie – She has been with us a while now and we know her game is based on power, physicality and a seriously strong shot. But today she added some really nice touches, especially across the D to create chances for her team mates. It really showed how much Katie has improved over the last 18 months. Awesome session, well done Katie!

What a fab first week back, really pleased with the attitude shown by every single player. Can’t wait to see how they develop over a full season, fingers crossed!

We have a few places left, especially in the younger age groups, the older group is pretty much full now. If you fancy coming and having ago, just drop us a message and we will get you booked in, and remember the first session is completely free!
