Matilde & Owen – Manor Futsal Club Player’s Of The Year 2017-2018
Matilde
She has been playing grassroots football for a couple of season for Poppleton Tigers. She tried futsal for a couple of sessions last year but has been pretty much ever-present all this season. She has improved so much this year, displaying a real attitude to learning the game of futsal. She had a huge part in BFC Best Futsal Club winning the Manor Futsal Cup this year. Matilde also represented Bootham Futsal Club in some of the games this year and never failed to give 100%. A superb young lady, who we have no doubt will be a huge success at whatever she decides to do. She was a well deserved recipient of the Female Player of the Year, well done Matilde.
Owen
It has been an incredible pleasure to know and coach this young man for the last 2 seasons. He is one of those players that coaches dream about, polite, always says thank you and never ever complains. He collects cone in, asks if he can help in any way and does all this with a huge smile on his face. Unfortunately he was away through injury from the last session of the season, so his brother collected the award on his behalf. The picture was sent to us by his very proud mother, and she tells us he hasn’t put the trophy down yet! Owen has improved and learnt the game of futsal to a very high level, knowing when to pass and when to dribble with the ball. He hates losing and is never short of a ‘helping’ comment for the referees! He was a well deserved recipient of the Male Player of the Year, well done Owen.
Note – Apologies as we only just realised this hadn’t been posted from earlier this year! As they say, better late than never…
