We welcomed the players back after the Easter break for the first session of a new block. We had no third hour as the U14s had a game later the same day at the University of York.

We had one new player come and try Futsal for the first time – welcome Isla, we hope you had fun and we look forward to seeing you again very soon!

This block of training started with the introduction to transition – what it meant and how it effected the game. We had some great displays of finishing and defending from the first group with everyone really working their socks off, brilliant to watch!

The second group worked on the same ideas with a little more insight into the technique they were using and why. Again the girls worked really hard and showed a fantastic attitude to learning, with some outstanding result. We have to mention Lacey, she had no idea what was going on, so funny but she really make us smile, so a huge thank you!

Player of the week for the first hour was Isabella L – this girls is quick, very quick but today she used that pace to great advantage, both attacking and defending. Her touch and control is improving each and every week, she has one of the best shots in the age group – so put this all together and we have a futsal player in the making – awesome session Isabella!

Player of the week for the second hour was Grace W – this was Grace’s best performance since joining the club. She did things her own way today but got the results we were looking for and I was so pleased she ended the hour with a smile on her face. Lots more to come from this young lady, great session Grace, well done!

Final thoughts of a coach – it is always interesting to watch the players train after a break. Sometimes they struggle to concentrate, their attention can wonder, their technique can be a little off and their performance can be lower than usual. I have to be honest and say at both session today the girls were so focused and their learning was spot on, it was brilliant to coach. Both hours just flew by and I honestly didn’t want them to end. A huge thank you, from me and the other coaches, to each and every one of the girls, you were amazing today!
