With Coach Chris away working, Suzy and Paul stepped up and lead the sessions – feedback was it went very well!

We had a new player come and try Futsal for the first time – welcome Ezri, we hope you had fun and we look forward to seeing you again very soon!

The younger group worked on playing with an overload. We challenged them to see if they could use their extra player and finish the attacks with a shot on goal. Teams had to leave one player in the oppositions half when they lost the ball. This creates the opportunity for the team with the ball to play 4v3 in one half of the court, but if they lost the ball they ran the risk of a quick counterattack! Great fun to watch and to see how brave the players in possession were!

Player of the week for the younger group was Hattie – This young lady has only been playing futsal for a short time but is already showing all the right attitudes to be very good futsal player. She is strong, likes a tackle, runs with the ball and works her socks off! Well done Hattie, can’t wait to see how you develop over the season!

The older group worked on building an attack with an overload. They started 4v1 on a full court and each time they scored they got another ball, but we also added another defender. We timed how long it took the team to score 4 goals. They then swapped and we saw if the they could beat the first teams time. The temptation is not to use the full court and just run with the ball. The worked out pretty quickly that if you played quick the defence didn’t get time to set and goals came much easier.

Player of the week for the older group was Ellie R – This young lady is such a good player. She works so hard and her determination to win the ball is outstanding. She covered pretty much every inch of the court and this season she has added that physicality to her game to make her a complete futsal player. Excellent Ellie, we can’t wait to see how far you develop!

As a coach I never like missing a session, I feel like I have let my players down. But as our club has grown, we are able to bring in other coaches who are very capable of running successful and challenging sessions. A huge thank you to Coaches Suzy and Paul for the work they did at the weekend.

As an aside we have contact the league to discuss our entry into hopefully next season Women’s National League Northern. This is a huge step forward for the club and one we always dreamed of doing. We have also agreed with the FA to host, for the fourth time, the opening round of the Futsal FA Youth Cup. This is a real showcase for girls futsal in our area, and a competition we have been very successful in the past. We encourage everyone to get behind the girls at each age group as it is a such a huge part of our season.

There is so much going on at the moment, I am so proud to be Chairman of this club!

Coach Chris
