Last session before the start of the FA Pokemon Futsal Regional Qualifiers and we had a guest come and watch! Ellie, newly appointed ladies captain dropped in to check out the upcoming talent.

We had three players come and try Futsal for the first time – welcome Lucy C, Lucy F and Charlie, we hope you had fun and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon!

We had another fantastic turnout for the first group, such potential with these players. We split the players into 5 groups and did a skills roundabout. Five stations, each with its own coach, focusing on various technical skills – these included ball skills, running with the ball, movement, sole play and passing. The players really rose to these challenges and we saw some massive improvements in so many different players. We finished with a winners stays on game, one goal and you are off!

Player of the week for the younger group was Hannah – she is one of the newest members of the group but already she is looking the real deal! She has a great work ethic, listens and wants to improve each and every week. What caught our eye this week, was her direct play and goalscoring. Great start to your futsal journey, the future looks very bright, well played Hannah!

We challenged the older group to work on a a transition game with different restart positions. One team had 5 corners and 5 goalkeeper restarts, in alternating order to score as many goals as they could from the 10 ball. Each team rotated through attacking and then defending. After one complete rotation they could then decide in what order they took the restarts. It was great to watch and see the leaders come to the front and take charge of their team. Ellie picked out Katie H as her standout player for the older group, well played Katie!

Player of the week for the younger group was Emily-Sue – she is such a fab players to have in the group, very quiet but today she decided was the day to really show her commitment! A couple of thunderous tackles that really surprised her opponents and to be honest the coaches too! Awesome display, well played Emily-Sue!

It was great for Ellie to come down and support the club today. It was really evident how much harder the older group worked, they all gave at least an extra 15%. We have always said the ladies team was a very important part for the development of the club, and today was the evidence that these U14s and U16s have set their heart on playing in the National League, and showing their fantastic talent and commitment at a national stage. We just can’t wait!
