Bootham Futsal Club Vs Wigginton Grasshoppers U10s

On Saturday 7 July Bootham Futsal Club played their second home game in as many weeks against Wigginton Grasshoppers U10 at St Peters. They played four 15-minute constant clock games with players all getting equal playing time.
Bootham were represented by:
Naomi L (Captain), Amelia H, Raya S, Emily C, Lottie H, Ivy A, Iris W, Ella H, Scarlett L and Beth R.
Game 01
The game got off to a flying start when Naomi scored after only 10 seconds with a sharp finish. Wigginton worked hard in their first ever futsal game and gave everything. Bootham added a second before the end with Lottie scoring.
Game 02
In a much tighter game Bootham took the lead when Naomi pounced on a back pass and beat the keeper from close range. Wigginton made chances but just couldn’t beat Scarlett in the Bootham goal. Late on Ivy’s shot was unfortunately turned into the Wigginton net for an own goal to Bootham.
Game 03
Bootham again took an early lead when Amelia’s long-range shot found its way into the bottom corner of the Wigginton goal. Bootham added a second when Ella’s corner was deflected into the Wigginton goal. Naomi got her 3rd of the day with a smart finish. Wigginton created some good chance, but it just wasn’t their day in front of goal.to the Wigginton net for an own goal to Bootham.
Game 04
As the players started to tire, the last game of the day was the closest with both team making chance after chance without either being able to score. Raya finally broke the deadlock with a first time finish inside the D, a classic futsal goal!
Player of the Matches, as chosen by Coach Paul was:
Lottie H – She has only been playing futsal a few weeks, but she has taken to the game easily, showing great feet and fantastic energy to get about the court. She doesn’t shy away from any tackles and when given the chance has a great shot on her as well. Top performance well played Lottie!
We spoke to Coach Chris after the games and he said, ‘I was really impressed by the way the girls carried on from what they did last week. They applied from some of the things we talked about and improved in so many areas. We still had some players playing for the first time and they learned quickly from the others. I absolutely love the way the girls want to play – they want to be on the ball, happy to take a touch, and their passing at times is just so good to watch.’
Huge thank you to Wigginton Grasshoppers for coming down on a Sunday morning and playing the games, you were amazing and are welcome back any time!
