On Saturday 14 July Bootham Futsal Club played their last game of the season when they entertained York Railway Institute U12s at St Peters School. They played four 15-minute constant clock games with players all getting equal playing time.

Bootham were represented by:

Bonnie-Shai C, Naomi L, Jean P, Erin A, Lily N, Ella H, Lottie H, Izzy S, Jessica H (Captain), Maisie M and Imogen B.

Bootham once again had no goalkeeper so a special thank you to Naomi, Ella, Bonnie-Shai and Jean for having a go – you were all fantastic!

Unfortunately, the VEO camera didn’t record the matches, no idea why, so we have no record of the final scores or the goal scorer’s – needless to say we had plenty of goals from both sides, great saves from all the goalkeepers, especially the York RI goalkeeper who was fantastic, and overall, we had saw some great futsal.

This was a great way to finish the season for the girls and a huge thank you to all the teams at all the various age groups who have come and visited us this season.

Player of the Matches, as chosen by Coach Paul and Ava were:

Erin A – This young lady has it all – she is strong in the tackle, brilliant with her feet, loves a dribble and when she gets near the goal, pretty much always finds the back of the net – the future looks very good for this one!

Jessica H – She controlled the game every time she was on court. A perfect safety, who reads the game so well, intercepts rather than tackles, great on the ball and comfortable with her passing and movement – now just to get her scoring a few goals!!

We spoke to Coach Chris after the games and he said, ‘What a great way to finish the season, huge congrats to York RI, who only had 5 players but never once stopped running and scored some very good goals. I was so pleased by the way we played today, the players are really starting to understand the principles of the game in the way they are with and without the ball, so good to watch. Huge thank you to Paul and Ava for looking after the teams over the last 3 weeks, it gives me a great opportunity to sit back and watch and see how we are doing as a club. Finally, a massive thank you to the amazing parents who bring their daughters each week and support both sides in all the matches, without you the club simply doesn’t exist.

Huge thank you to York Railway Institiute for coming down on a Sunday morning and playing the games, you were amazing and are welcome back any time!
