On Saturday 24 February Bootham Ladies entertain Tier 1 Hertfordshire Vipers in the last 8 of the Futsal National Women’s Plate. At the same stage last year Bootham Ladies lost at home to London Genesis in a thrilling cup game – who can ever forget Lucy’s last gasp equaliser with only 4 seconds left to take the game to extra time and eventually penalties. The crowd that day were amazing, the noise was staggering! Refresh you memory by watching the match highlights below…

An excited coach Chris spoke to us in the week, ‘Wow, I just can’t wait for this one! We welcome our third tier 1 side to York this season, and what an amazing opportunity for the ladies to showcase what they can do. Cup games are so unpredictable, anything can happen. Last seasons game was an absolute classic, what an advert for the ladies game. The crowd, the noise, the drama, the goals – we still talk about Lucy’s goal with 4 seconds to go, it was just unreal. Unfortunately last time we didn’t get the result we wanted and the ladies are determined to put that right this year!’

Ladies Vice Captain Jess Baker said, ‘Games like these are one of the reasons we all play futsal. One step closer to the final and a chance to really show everyone what Bootham Ladies are about!’

And we leave the final word to Ladies Captain Ellie Whittaker, she said, ‘Last year’s quarter final was arguably one of the biggest occasions for the club so far, and we’re all determined and working hard to go one better this year and get a result.’
