Repton School U15s Vs Bootham Futsal Club

On Saturday 22 June Bootham Futsal Club made the long trip south to play Repton School, Derby in a friendly futsal match. Bootham took a mixture of ages from U17 to U14, and it was the first time the girls had played a full 40 minute stop clock game.
Bootham were represented by:
Mollie G, Evie C, Hannah B, Erin E, Katie H, Eleanor C, Abbie D, Hattie F, Sophie T, Ava W (Captain) and Jessica W.
Special mention to Evie and Jessica in goal who played for both teams, one half for each.
1st Half
Bootham started very well and look to control the ball with some good passing and movement. Repton were very used to the size of the court and used it well to their advantage. Eve made several good saves before Repton finally broke the deadlock. Bootham were being frustrated by Jess, playing in goal for Repton as she made several top saves. By halftime Repton had scored some well worked goals and were looking comfortable.
2nd Half
Bootham got the perfect start to the 2nd half when they scored after just 30 seconds. A well worked goal finished well by Ava. That was as good as it got, as Repton started to dominate the game after Bootham started to tire and eventually ran out comfortable winners.
Coach Chris spoke to us after the game, ‘That was an enjoyable experience, and we have learnt a lot about the players today. That court is huge and to play a full stop clock game is hard work, I was impressed by the way we never gave up. The frustration was we didn’t really play futsal at times, resorting to football – our touch, technique and overall play wasn’t what the girls show each week in training. We know we must play as many matches as possible, and we need to give the players as many different opportunities as possible to play as many different standards of teams as possible.’
Huge thank you to Repton for being amazing hosts today, the venue is stunning, and we can’t wait to come back next year.
