U14 National Futsal Youth Cup – Bootham Vs Calcio

On Sunday, March 23rd, Bootham Futsal Club U14s faced Calcio Football Academy at home in the first round of this season’s U14 National Futsal Youth Cup. The match was played over two intense 20-minute halves, followed by extra time and penalties when the sides couldn’t be separated.

Bootham’s squad featured a talented lineup, including Jean P, Maisie M, captain Jess H, Mandy M, Bonnie-Shai C, Imogen B, Jess W, and Mollie C. The team was eager to showcase their skills and make a strong start in the competition.
Congratulations to Calcio Football Academy on their victory after a tense penalty shootout. Commiserations go to the Bootham girls, who gave it their all and left everything on the court — it simply wasn’t their day. Calcio now progress to the second round, while Bootham will continue their journey in the Plate competition.
Player of the Match as chosen by Coach Tyler was Jess W. Jess delivered a fantastic performance, pulling off some incredible saves and showcasing exceptional distribution throughout the game. She even managed to save one of the penalties, but despite her heroics, Bootham couldn’t quite edge through in the end. Outstanding effort, Jess — a top-class display!
After the game Coach Tyler said, ‘I’m really pleased with the way the girls battled against a strong opposition. They created plenty of chances to win the game, and on another day, we could have been the ones moving on to the next round. The match was played in a fantastic spirit, and I wish Calcio the very best of luck in the next round. We’ll now wait for the draw in the Plate competition and give it our all to advance. A huge thank you to everyone for their incredible support on Sunday — the atmosphere was amazing!’
