West Riding Girls Futsal League – Winter League Week 02 – 2025

After a fantastic start to the opening week of the new West Riding Girls Futsal League, with three wins out of four, confidence was high heading into another exciting day of action in Batley.
This week, the focus for the team was on building play from the goalkeeper and progressing the ball up the court with patience and control, which is a key part of their ongoing development in the game.
The U13 squad for the day:
Rusnė V, Naomi L, Emily C, Aoife M (GK), Lily N, Isabelle S, and Amelia H.

Player of the Week – U13s – Rusne V – Another all-round performance from a player growing in confidence every time she steps on court. Rusne has started to make an impact at the opposite end of the court too, and she’s looking really good at it. Top job, Rusne!
Player of the Week – U15s – Imogen B – Today, Imogen’s finishing was of the highest quality, real composure and confidence in front of goal. A fantastic performance from start to finish, and her eye for goal was well worth watching. Definitely one for the future!
Coaches Comments:
Coach Tyler said after the games, ‘Another great day in Batley from both teams. The U13s battled really well against two strong sides and were very unlucky not to win at least one of the games. You almost never see a 0–0 in futsal, and that was only thanks to the Samba goalkeeper, who pulled off some brilliant saves.
The U15s are getting stronger each time they play. The scoreline doesn’t flatter them, some of the goals were of the highest quality, built from simple one- and two-touch play with a composed finish. One more win and they’ll be champions of the Winter League!
I’m really looking forward to seeing the U14s play in a brand-new league in Hull next week. Hopefully, they can continue the very high standards these two teams have set so far this season.’
