Both the U13s and U15s were in action at Thornhill Academy for the latest round of matches in the West Riding Girls Futsal League.

The U13s were looking to build on their last two strong performances and continue their run with another pair of wins. The team also welcomed new futsal player Amelia H, who made her debut in her first ever futsal matches.

The U15s went into the day knowing they were just one win away from securing the Winter League Title, having gone unbeaten in all previous rounds. Could they find that final victory to seal the championship? They were delighted to welcome Sophie C and Alexis D into the squad for the first time, while Scarlett W took on goalkeeping duties.

Final League Table

So the U15s held their nerve and won the U15 Winter League! Huge congratulations to the whole squad for remaining unbeaten throughout all the games, a fantastic achievement.

Player of the Week – U13s – Maja G – She was absolutely brilliant today! Her passing has come on incredibly well, and her physical presence on the pitch has grown so much. She showed real toughness and determination, bouncing back from a strong tackle and carrying on like a true competitor. Amazing performance, Maja, what a standout day!

Player of the Week – U15s – Mollie C – She was fantastic today! Mollie played with real confidence, picking up a few great assists and then adding two goals of her own to round off an excellent performance. She also worked incredibly hard defensively, keeping Samba’s best player quiet in the second game.Brilliant work, Mollie, a well-deserved Player of the Week!

Coaches Comments:

Coach Tyler said after the games, ‘Another great day in the WRGFL for both teams. The U13s showed incredible determination against two top sides. They battled brilliantly and were very unlucky not to come away with points after a close first game that could easily have been a draw. They bounced back superbly, winning the second game comfortably and playing some really impressive, flowing futsal.

The U15s were outstanding and ended the day by officially being crowned Winter League Champions, a truly well-deserved achievement. They dominated the league from start to finish, going the entire season unbeaten and showing incredible consistency, teamwork, and maturity in every game. As the weeks went on, they continued to grow in confidence, playing some of their best futsal yet. Their movement, quick passing, and creativity made them one of the most exciting teams to watch, and they scored some absolutely outstanding goals throughout the campaign. Winning the league is a huge accomplishment, and the team should be incredibly proud of the hard work, commitment, and quality they’ve shown all season. An amazing achievement, well done, U15s!
