Bootham Celebrate Head Coach Love of the Game Award

Bootham Futsal Club are delighted to announce that Head Coach Chris Collins was recently awarded a Love of the Game Award by North Riding County FA in recognition of his outstanding support for grassroots football and futsal in the city.
Award-winning coach Chris, who has previously coached at York Railway Institute FC, Rawcliffe FC, York City Boys Academy, and York City Girls RTC, is now the driving force behind female futsal in York through his ownership and leadership of Bootham Futsal Club. He has dedicated more than 15 years to supporting female sport in the city.
A firm believer in creating opportunities for all females, regardless of ability or experience, Chris and Bootham Futsal Club continue to champion female futsal across North Yorkshire, providing a welcoming environment where players of all ages can develop and enjoy the game.

Speaking about receiving the award, Chris said:
“Wow, that was unexpected. I do what I do because I simply enjoy it. I think all volunteers give their time unselfishly because they want to help others. I am in a very privileged position to pass on my experience to females of all ages, whether they are England development players or nine-year-olds just starting out with the biggest smile on their face – they are all treated the same.”
He added:
“It’s a huge honour to be recognised by North Riding County FA. They have done so much to help us build our club, and their support and expertise have been invaluable throughout our existence. Long may that continue.”
Bootham Futsal Club are currently recruiting new players for the 2026/27 season, with spaces available across all age groups from U8s through to Open Age.
