Bootham Futsal Club Vs York Railway Institute

Bootham Girls’ Futsal Club entertained York Railway Institute in a friendly at York University, before York Futsal played their cup game against London Genesis. The game was played over two 20-minute halves with a mad 3-minute game at the end. Suffice to say everyone had great fun and we saw some great play from both teams.
Bootham were represented by:
Aoife (GK), Emily C, Lily N, Naomi L, Rusne V, Eady M, Iris W, Maya G and Lotti H.
Game 01
Game 02
Player of the Match – Rusne V – a very new player to futsal but one who is adapting her football ideas brilliantly to futsal. She was challenged to get forward today, even managing to score, and use the sole of her foot to try and control the ball, which she did on numerous occasions. A long way to go in her futsal journey but have we uncovered a little gem, we think so, watch this space!

Coach’s Comment – After the hard games last week in Leeds, it was brilliant to see the way the girls bounced back and played some superb passing futsal today. There was so much one and two touch play, receiving the ball under pressure and some brilliant switches of play from one side of the court to the other. They took their chances well and scored some fantastic team and individual goals. I said last week that this group of players have only just got started and today they really did show what a cracking group they are! I still have a huge smile on my face – thank you girls.
Huge thank you to York RI for the game, and the way their team never gave up, we lost count how many times they hit the post! Finally, a huge thank you to Junior Roberti for allowing the girls to play on the main court at York and allowing them to watch a very entertaining game afterwards. York really does have a futsal community, and we are very proud to be part of it.
