On Sunday 3 November Bootham Futsal U14 Girls entertained Thornaby Town Girls in a friendly futsal game, played at the University of York.

Bootham were represented by:

Ruby W, Summer H, Alice P, Eleanor W – captain, Holly M, Ellie R, Freya D, Katie J, Emily-Sue T and guest goalkeeper Ellie.

The match started with both sides scoring early goals, and for most of the first half the game was pretty much end to end. As the half drew to a close Bootham managed to pull away. The second half was much more one way traffic for Bootham, but Ellie in the Bootham goal was needed to pull off several fantastic saves to keep the visitors at bay! The game finished with a comfortable win for Bootham with goals from Ruby W, Alice P, Eleanor W, Ellie R and Emily-Sue T.

Coach Chris said afterwards, “I am really pleased with the way everyone played, several of the girls were playing in their first ever futsal match. We started slowly but by the end we were playing well. Huge thank you to Thornaby Town for coming down and we hope you enjoyed the mens game afterwards.”

Also a huge thank you to Junior Roberti from York Futsal for allowing us to play the game before the mens league game, and Joe Iggulden for being a top class referee!

Player of the match was Ellie R – the coaches were really impressed by her work rate, tackling and especially the brilliantly placed finish for one of her goals. Well done Ellie, keep up this high standard!
