On Sunday 14 March Bootham Girls’ Futsal Club U12s entertained a new futsal team Eagles Hull U12s in a friendly match. The matches were played over three 20minute games and one 10minute game with unlimited substitutes.

Bootham U13s were represented by:

Match 01

Bootham got off to a flying start with quick goals from MaisieIsabelle, and Naomi. But Eagles didn’t give ups and came roaring back with 2 late goals to make it a nail-biting finish, in which both goalkeepers made some great saves.

Final score – Bootham 3 – 2 Eagles

Match 02

Bootham missed some early chances to take the lead and Eagles really did make them pay, with a great breakaway goal to take the lead. Both sides had chances to score, but once again the goalkeepers were on top form. Bootham push all the way to final whistle but just couldn’t grab an equaliser.

Final score – Bootham 0 – 1 Eagles

Match 03

This time it was Eagles who raced into a quick 2-0 lead. Bootham came storming back but just couldn’t get that vital goal, with Bonnie-Shay having the best chance but striking the crossbar. Eagles made them pay with 2 more goals before Bootham scoured the goal of the day from a full court move involving JessMollie and scored by Isabelle.

Final score – Bootham 1 – 4 Eagles

Match 04

In the last game of the day, we saw Bootham play some fantastic futsal and two goals from Imogen saw them finish the day on a high. Eagles pushed them all the way and if it wasn’t for some heroics from the Bootham goalkeeper Jess they would have surely scored.

Final score – Bootham 2 – 0 Eagles

Players of the Match was shared between – Jess W and Imogen B – the oppositions coaches were so impressed by the saves Jess made, and they said she is one for the future, we couldn’t agree more! It was brilliant to have Imogen back playing after her serious ankle injury, and boy she looked good! She plays with so much power and pace and can score goals as well. Both young ladies are a big part of the future of the club, awesome job!

Coach Chris spoke to us after the games, he said, ‘That was a fantastic afternoon of futsal, love watching all these girls play the game with so much enthusiasm and desire, and all with smiles on their faces. Special thank you to Lewis for refereeing his first ever games, he did fab! I think he now realises it is not as easy as it looks! Also huge thank you to Paul and Ava for looking after the teams, they did a brilliant job, making sure everyone got equal time and lots of support in all they did.

Finally thank you to the Eagles players, coaches, and parents. It must be something about futsal that brings out the very best in everyone. The players were superb, the coaches brilliant to talk to and the parents a real credit to the club, overall, a very enjoyable day, and Eagles are welcome back anytime!’
