In the first game of the year in the Girls Junior Futsal Series, Bootham travelled to Hull to face Hull Eagles Futsal Blues. With the Hull side having lost just once all season, the pressure was firmly on the Bootham girls to maintain their unbeaten run.

As the league approaches the halfway point, Bootham have been in excellent form, playing some superb futsal and sharing the goals around the squad, a real sign of their growing confidence and cohesion.

Despite injuries and player unavailability, Bootham arrived with a young but squad. With captain Jess sidelined for a few weeks, the armband was handed to Imogen B. There were also recalls for Maya and Maisie.

The team took to the court with Emily C, Maisie M, Maya G, Sophie C, Mollie C, Imogen B (C), and Scarlett W (GK), a lineup full of energy, talent and belief.

Player of the Match – Scarlett – Scarlett was right in the wars today. She took a few bumps and bruises from some strong challenges, but nothing rattled her. She picked herself up every time and came back stronger, producing a couple of huge, game-saving stops when the team needed her most. Her composure on the ball is unbelievable for her age, calm, confident, and fearless with the ball at her feet. She played with real authority and confidence from start to finish. Top day, outstanding performance, and a massive well done to Scarlett!

Coaches Comments: Coach Tyler said after the games, “I couldn’t be prouder of this group today. The way they worked for each other was outstanding. We were missing players and took the smallest squad we’ve had for some time, but every single one of them stepped up.

They worked their socks off from the first whistle to the last, battled for every ball, and when it mattered, they put their bodies on the line to defend our goal. We went a goal down, but their response was unbelievable, they showed heart, resilience, and real belief to fight back and win the game. Massive credit to every single player. That performance was all about togetherness, effort, and pride. Today, every one of them wore the Bootham shirt with absolute pride.”
