Game 2 of the day at the North vs East event saw the U11s continue their journey into competitive futsal as they faced another new opponent, South Cave U11s. Following a much-improved performance last time out in Batley, the team were keen to keep progressing and continue their development in the right direction. With several players making their debut and others still early in their futsal experience, it promised to be a closely contested encounter.

The matches were played over 20 minutes with a rolling clock and rolling substitutes, ensuring all players had the opportunity to contribute.

Player of the Day was Amy as chosen by Coach Micheal – If she wasn’t on clubs’ list of future ladies’ players before, she is now! We asked the players to have the confidence to drop short to receive the ball from the goalkeeper to give a different option and Amy did this to perfection. Either with a crisp pass to a teammate or a couple of fantastic runs with the ball, she was an excellent member of the team throughout. Well done Amy, top job!

Coaches Comments: We must remember that most of these girls have only experienced a few games of Futsal. A slow start to the first game, was swiftly followed by some excellent play, tons of shots and a bucket load of goals. There was even a near-miss at the back post that ladies vice-captain Jess said even the ladies would have been proud of. Fast running, high press and constantly trying to do the right thing all with an excellent performance in goal from our new keeper Sabine. Very proud of how these girls performed against a solid South Cave team. Big thanks to them also for coming over to us for the day, we hope to see you again in tournaments very soon!
