We were delighted to welcome all the girls back after the Easter break. Although the football season is approaching its conclusion, the squad continues to show great commitment and energy. With an exciting trip to Italy coming up for many players, the league still to contest in Hull, and a number of friendlies ahead, there is still plenty to play for.

With GCSEs just around the corner, we would also like to wish all our fantastic Year 11 players the very best of luck in their exams.

To support both preparation and focus, we split the session into two parts. In the first half, we concentrated on key defensive principles, specifically delay and deflect. Recent matches highlighted that when out of possession, players were sometimes engaging opponents without control and being beaten too easily. We worked on improving body shape, positioning, and understanding how long to delay an attacker effectively on a futsal court.

The second half of the session focused on movement in possession. We explored how to maintain control of the ball from restarts such as kick-ins or when the goalkeeper is in possession. The key message was simple: constant movement. Players practiced moving towards the goalkeeper to receive the ball, then quickly changing direction and moving away if not selected, creating space for teammates. This continuous rotation made it easier for the goalkeeper to identify safe passing options.

It was a demanding but enjoyable session, and full credit goes to the girls for their effort and determination throughout.

First Hour – Ania G – One of her teammates was heard saying, “How strong is Ania!” We couldn’t agree more! She’s one of our top young players — full of heart, skill, and those fabulous feet. A true bright star at the youngest level, and we can’t wait to see where her futsal journey takes her. Brilliant session today, Ania!

Second Hour – Emily C – One of the girls heading to Italy, and as the season comes to an end, she’s just getting better and better. She’s taking more care on the ball, showing great composure, and really looks like a good futsal player. Another of our younger players, and definitely one we’ll be watching closely! Top day, Emily!

As we return after the Easter break, we’d like to take a moment to thank all our parents and supporters for the incredible energy you bring each week. Your encouragement makes a huge difference to EVERY player on the court.

At Bootham Futsal Club, we believe futsal is about so much more than winning. It’s about enjoyment, development, confidence, and creating a space where EVERY player – regardless of age, experience, or ability, feels valued and supported. We’re proud of the welcoming and inclusive environment we’ve built together, and that extends to EVERYvisiting team as well.

We love the passion from the sidelines, keep it coming! Cheer loudly, celebrate the moments, and enjoy the game. We simply encourage everyone to share that support across the whole court. Recognising great play, teamwork, and effort from ALL players helps create the positive atmosphere that makes futsal so special.

Together, we’re not just supporting our daughters, we’re helping grow the game, build confidence, and create lasting memories for EVERY young player involved. Over the past nine years, this community has achieved something truly special, and it’s thanks to all of you.

We’re excited for the rest of the season and grateful to have you with us every step of the way.

Thank you, as always, for your amazing support.

Coach Chris
