The U12 and U14 teams made the trip to Batley for the final round of the Spring Series in the West Riding Girls Futsal League. While neither side was in contention to win the league, both were determined to build on the progress shown in previous rounds and finish the campaign on a high.

The U12s, in particular, had their sights set on a top-three finish, having shown marked improvement throughout the series. They faced a challenging afternoon, with fixtures lined up against two of the league’s top teams – a real test of how far they’ve come.

The U12s were represented by: Aoife M (GK), Maja G, Emily C, Rusne V, Naomi L, Isabelle S, Lily N, Mollie C and Amelia H.

The U14s also had plenty to play for, with a runners-up spot still within reach. Like their younger counterparts, they were up against strong opposition, including teams showing steady improvement as the season progressed. It promised to be a competitive end to the campaign for both squads, with development and team spirit remaining at the heart of their efforts.

The U14s were represented by: Rusne V, Kjra P, Jessica W, Bonnie-Shai C, Imogen B, Mollie C, Freya L and Jessica H.

Here is the final U14 league table:

Player of the Week – U12s – The Whole Squad – The progress this group has made is nothing short of outstanding. They’re growing in confidence with every game, showing composure on the ball and a real desire to support one another across the pitch. But what stood out most this week was their physicality – not one player backed down from a challenge. Their grit, determination, and team-first attitude were exceptional. If this is the standard of our U12s, the long-term future of the club is looking very bright!

Player of the Week – U15s – The Whole Squad – Once again, it was impossible to single out one player – every member of the squad played their part. A real standout across the games was how confidently they played out from pressure, particularly in the first match. Their quick ball movement and teamwork allowed them to escape tight situations again and again – a joy to watch. With performances like this, it’s clear that over the next couple of seasons, some of these players will be pushing for places in the Ladies squad – and honestly, I can’t wait to see it happen.

Coaches Comments:

It was my first time back in Batley for several weeks, and I have to say — nothing beats watching the games live. While the VEO camera has been a brilliant tool for reviewing and analysing matches — giving players and parents the chance to revisit games again and again — there’s just something special about being there in person.

I love being able to give immediate feedback: to praise the outstanding moments, but also to ask the players to reflect — what did you do, and if you had the chance again, what would you do differently? The best part is seeing them take that feedback on board and then actually try to apply it in the next game. That’s exactly what we saw from several players today — listening, learning, and putting things into action. It was brilliant to witness.

With the league season now wrapped up, I want to say a huge thank you to John and Connor for putting together such a competitive and well-organised league. It’s been fantastic for all age groups involved. If you’re in Leeds, York, or even Hull — you really need to get involved. Your players, parents, and coaches will thank you for it.

We can’t wait for 2025/26 and more of the same!

Coach Chris
