West Riding Girls Futsal League – Week 03
On Sunday 10 November Bootham U12 girls visited Batley for the 3rd time this season for their 5th and 6th games in the West Riding Girls Futsal League. It was also the first round of fixtures for the U14s and U15s. The U12s were looking to carry on the winning feeling after 2 wins last time out, and the U14s and U15s were looking to start on the front foot.
The U12s were represented by: Aoife (GK), Emily C, Mollie C, Rusne V, Naomi L, Eady M, Emily W and Lily N.
The U14s were represented by: Heidi J, Jess H, Mandy M, Imogen B, Jean P, Maisie M, Mollie C and Bonnie-Shai C.
The U15s were represented by: Heidi J, Mollie G, Abbie D, Eleanor C, Hannah B, Lena L, Erin E and Hattie F.
Huge respect to both Mollie C, who played for both the U12s and U14s and Heidi J, who played for both the U14s and U15s, both were excellent and a huge credit to the club.
All the teams showed huge respect when they stood for a minute’s silence to honour those people who have fallen in battle defending our country.
U12s Game 05 – GT Sports
U12s Game 06 – Batteyford
Huge well done to the U12s
U14/U15 Game 01 – Bootham Vs Bootham
U14/U15 Game 02 – Bootham U14s Vs Rothwell U15s
U14/U15 Game 03 – Bootham U15s Vs Rothwell U15s
Player of the Week – U12s – Mollie C controlled both games with her movement and passing, she was a little star today. The coaches thought it was probably her best game in a Bootham shirt. We asked her to step up her physicality and she did this and so much more – the future is very bright for this one!
Player of the Week – U14s – Jess H never says much but does all her talking on the court. Another fantastic performance from an exception player. She never once backs out of a challenge, making tackle after tackle and has great feet to work the ball forward – the ladies’ team are watching Jess!
Player of the Week – U15s – Erin E not an easy one to pick when everyone played so well, but she stood out for her futsal touch, movement and desire to win the game. Erin has been training regularly with the ladies’ team and it showed as she has made huge steps forward this season. Not long to go until this young lady wears the lady’s shirt in the National League!
Coach’s Comment – From my perspective we saw some of the best futsal all 3 age groups have played so far in their development. The U12s are becoming a superb group of players, they trust each other, work extremely hard in and out of possession and scored some fantastic goals today. All but for a refereeing decision they would have won at least one of their games. I honestly could be any prouder of this group now.
The U14s faced a real stiff challenge against two much older sides, but this didn’t stop them from giving it everything. The players really did stand up to the opposition and hold their own over both the games. Physically they gave as good as they got, and again scored some good goals. If you bear in mind most of the team were 12 or 13, this is something they should be extremely chuffed about! Well played girls!
As all but one of the U15s have trained or played a friendly with the ladies’ team, we were expecting some good play from them today, and boy they did not disappoint. The goals they scored were pure futsal, simple and quick passing. They used the court well and looked very comfortable in what they were doing. Individual errors cost them in the overall result, as we are only focused on the journey, as coaches we can only smile.
If this is the standard of futsal from all the age groups, I think it is safe to say the club is in very safe hands – one very happy coach!
