The U13s were on their own this week at the West Riding Girls Futsal League, looking to bounce back after a defeat and a draw in Batley last time out.

With Coach Chris watching from the sidelines, all eyes were on how the girls would respond. Still very much in the hunt for the league title, they knew that two strong performances could put them right back in contention.

The U13 squad for the day:
Amelia H, Rusnė V, Naomi L, Emily C, Aoife M (GK), Lily N, Isabelle S, and Emily W.

Unfortunately the VEO camera was still away being fixed so no video for either game this week, hopefully back for the next round of games. You can help towards the repair cost and annual subscription by clicking the link here to go to the Go Fund Me page:

U13s Game 05

The team worked incredibly hard both in and out of possession, showing real determination throughout. Great goals from Emily and Isabelle came just when they were needed most, helping the side to a thoroughly deserved win. It was fantastic to see the team getting back to their passing game and, crucially, trusting each other on the court.

U13s Game 06

Not the result the performance deserved, as the team found it difficult to break down a well-organised and disciplined opposition. Despite dominating large spells of possession and working hard to create openings, clear chances were hard to come by. When they did manage to carve out opportunities, they were met by an inspired Samba goalkeeper, who produced several excellent saves to keep her team in the game.

U13 League Table

Player of the Week – U13s – Aoife M – What a fantastic day for Aoife! Especially in the first game, she was absolutely outstanding, pulling off save after save to keep the opposition at bay. What really stood out, though, was her distribution: calm, accurate, and intelligent throughout. Her precise passes and throws helped the team move up the court with confidence. A top, top day from Aoife, very well deserved!

Coaches Comments:

Coach Chris said after the games, ‘It was really good to come and watch the girls in person today, and they didn’t let me down. I asked them to try and get back to passing the ball more around the court and to stop trying to dribble through the opposition on their own. We talked about how the game is a passing game, and that we have to trust each other with the ball. This is a talented group, and they showed it today. Now the challenge is: can they be consistent week after week in what we ask them to do?
