Bootham played their annual friendly against the University of York Ladies Futsal team on Thursday 23 October at the Sports Centre, York University.

The Bootham side featured a number of talented up-and-coming players, giving them a valuable opportunity to experience the standard and intensity required at higher levels of the game.

A huge thank you also goes to Elizabeth Craven for stepping in and helping out with the team — her contribution was greatly appreciated.

Bootham were represented by Amie Solk, Clare Iggulden, Elena Dorojan, Hattie Formhals, Jess Hall, Jess Wright (GK), Lacey Backhouse, Molly Goodall, Suzy Collins (Captain), Elizabeth Craven and Ellie Whittaker.

After the games Head Coach Chris said to us, ‘It is always a great pleasure to play against the University of York Ladies Team. They make us feel extremely welcome, and their players consistently demonstrate an excellent attitude towards our younger squad members.

It was particularly pleasing to see some new faces in the Bootham side this evening, especially among the younger players. They represent the future of the club, and fixtures like this provide a safe and supportive environment for them to gain valuable experience in open-age futsal.

We were delighted to have eight different goal scorers tonight, which is a clear reflection of the players’ confidence and their ability to rotate effectively on the court. I would like to extend special congratulations to Jess Hall and Jess Wright, two of the youngest players involved this evening. Both performed exceptionally well, and we are excited to see them progress into the ladies’ team in due course.‘

Chris concluded by adding, ‘A sincere thank you to Joe and his team, we wish them every success in their upcoming BUCS season. My thanks also go to all the parents and players for giving their time this evening. It was an excellent night of futsal, played in a fantastic spirit.‘
