Bootham were delighted to be invited to take part in the brand-new Girls Junior Futsal Series in Hull. Having played in Hull many times before, we know just how strong the competition is, and what a fantastic venue it provides, so how could we possibly say no!

The match was played over two halves of 20 minutes with a running clock, making for fast-paced and exciting games from start to finish.

Bootham were represented by Bonnie-Shai C, Emily C, Imogen B, Jess H (C), Maisie M, Mollie C, Rusne V and Scarlett W (GK).

Game 01

A close first half saw East Riding take the lead, but goals from Bonnie-Shai and Maisie turned things around to give Bootham a halftime advantage. Bootham played some impressive futsal, creating several good chances, but couldn’t quite convert them into more goals.

A much more dominant second half saw Bootham really stamp their authority on the game. They moved the ball confidently and created a number of excellent chances, showing real composure and teamwork throughout. Mollie added to the scoreline with a well-taken goal before Imogen took centre stage, completing a superb hat-trick to put the result beyond doubt. It was a display full of energy and determination, and a brilliant save from Scarlett midway through the half ensured Bootham kept control. The performance reflected real progress from the team and secured a thoroughly deserved first league win.

League Table – Week 01

Apologies for the lack of video from the games at the moment — our VEO camera has been acting up, starting to record and then, for some unknown reason, stopping mid-session. We have no idea why this is happening, so it needs to be sent back to Denmark for inspection. We’ll share more updates as soon as we have them — Chairman, Chris

Player of the Week – Maisie – Time and again, Maisie won the ball back for Bootham, showing outstanding work rate and determination at both ends of the court. Her tireless energy and intelligent positioning made a huge difference to the team’s performance. She capped off an excellent display with a well-taken goal — a fitting reward for her efforts. Definitely one of the players to watch going forward!

Coaches Comments: Coach Tyler said after the games, ‘It took the players the first half to get used to the narrow but longer court, and also to playing against a side they had never faced before. They created plenty of chances in the first half but just couldn’t finish. At halftime, we spoke about being more clinical with our opportunities, and credit to the players, they took that on board and the result showed it. We’re really looking forward to more games in this league; the more competitive matches the players play, the better their understanding of the game becomes. A big thank you to the Junior Futsal Series for the invite, we had a fantastic day!’
