West Riding Girls Futsal League – Winter League Week 05 – 2025

After the U15s’ success last time out in Leeds, the U13s were eager to build on their own strong performances and climb the league table. This marked the penultimate week of the season, with the team returning to Batley. Following last week’s training session in York, where the coaches highlighted several areas for improving match play, hopes were high for two strong performances and ideally two well-earned wins.

With two Bootham players falling foul to heavy colds, including the goalkeeper, the U13s were represented by: Rusne V, Emily C, Maya G, Lily N, Amelia H and Isabelle S

Huge thank you to both Amelia and Rusne for taking a turn in goal.

Player of the Week – U13s –Both Goalkeepers – A huge thank you to Amelia and Rusne for stepping up and going in goal on Sunday. They both pulled off some fantastic saves and kept out certain goals that looked destined for the net. What impressed us most was how they each volunteered straight away with no hesitation and no fuss. They rolled up their sleeves, got on with the job and showed real team spirit. Top young ladies, both of them!
Coaches Comments:
Coach Tyler said after the games, ‘The girls played so well today, especially considering we had only one substitute and no dedicated goalkeeper. I was really proud of Amelia and Rusne for stepping into goal, they made some fantastic saves and truly helped the team. The girls also listened to what Coach Chris spoke about at training last week, getting behind the ball on all the kick-ins and trying to keep possession whenever possible. I think they were very unlucky not to win either game, well played girls!
