Bootham Futsal Club U13s Vs Rawcliffe U13s
On Sunday 4th December, Bootham Futsal Girls U13s took on Rawcliffe U13s at St Peters Sport Hall.
Bootham Futsal Club were represented by:
Poppy G (Captain), Heidi J, Jessica H, Hattie F, Martha P, Aria P, Poppy G, Zarah F, Molly G, Eva T, Erin E, Lena L and Olivia A
A Captain’s Performance From Poppy!
Rawcliffe were playing their first futsal match of the season and started brightly with some good passing, but once Bootham took the lead, they never looked back. They scored goals constantly throughout the game and ran out comfortable winners. Bootham goals were scored by Molly, Martha, Zarah, Hattie, Poppy, Erin and Eva. Rawcliffe managed a consolation goal and their play really did deserve more. It was so good to see four Bootham players play for Rawcliffe – big shout out to Toni, Imogen, Sienna and Jessica. Maja would have made it four but she was injured. Overall a convincing win for the U13s and nice preparation for the FA Pokemon Futsal Tournament to be held by Bootham in January 2023.
A huge thank you to Rawcliffe U13s and their coaches for giving up their Sunday to come and play us, you are welcome back any time! The spirit the game was played in was a credit to both teams, and the parents and supporters were treated to a fantastic game!
Not A Bad Futsal Debut For Zarah!
Player Of The Match was Molly G – The last game Molly played at the university, she fell awkwardly and broke her wrist. But the way she played today, it looked like she had never been away. She is a natural finisher, and one player who really has embraced the toe poke finish. All her goals showed she has a real eye for goal. Top performance from a fabulous young lady, one to watch on this performance!

Final thoughts of a coach – When you referee a match you miss so much of the detail in the game, you are concentrating on so many other things. This is why I always video the girls games to watch them back afterwards. Needless to say I watched this one with a huge smile on my face. Not just because of the type of goals the girls scored but the other play – the recovery, the passing, the patience to look after the ball, and the the communication. This group of young ladies are getting better and better each week, they really are coachable, they listen and try so very hard to implement what we ask them to do. They are playing a year up in the FA Pokemon Futsal tournament next year and I don’t expect them to go through to the next round, but I do know they will scare a few of the older teams… I honestly can’t wait!
