Edit 01

Well, what can we say, it was just not our day at Sheffield in the FA People’s Cup.  After only 2 minutes in the first game, a bad collision with Alexia saw her with a cut to her head and her left eye closed Edit 03up – and that was the end of the tournament for her.  The girls lost the first match against Tigers A from London, with a penalty in the very last seconds, going down 2-1 after a great goal from Lucy.

In the next match, yet another heavy collision and Lucy was seeing stars for about a minute, but bravely carried on.  Another final minute penalty saw the girls lose 3-2 to Welsh side Caernarfon Town Girls, with goals from Lucy and Chloe J, the second being a brilliant team goal.

In the last match a heavy tackle on Denva saw her leave the pitch with her arm in a sling!  Doncaster Belles were a very good side and ran out 6-0 winners against the girls but from a coaches’ point of view the girls Edit 02played very well in this game.  Doncaster Belles went on to be runners-up in the whole tournament.

Come back in a few days for a complete run down of the matches.

We knew today was going to be hard especially with it being an U14 tournament and the majority of our girls being U13s but the experience was brilliant, and we all learnt loads.  The girls were extremely unlucky not to win both of the first two games and throughout the tournament in parts played some fantastic football.

We usually pick a player of the tournament but the coaches have decided to not pick one, but pick everyone instead.  So a massive thank you to Bethan, Lucy, Chloe H, Denva, Amber, Alexia and Chloe J, you were all amazing!

A huge thank you to all the parents for bringing the girls and all their support for Pro Coaching Academy this year, we are less than a year old and to qualify for the finals of a national tournament shows the talent we have.  Who knows what the next 12 months will bring…
