Mom, What Are You Doing? – Bootham Futsal Club Week 23
Well, we finally got to the last session of the season, and boy did we finish on a good one!
We invited the parents to bring their trainers and come and have a go at playing futsal! Huge thank you to all those that played, we haven’t laughed so much in years! We were back in St Peter’s Sports Hall and managed to set up two courts across the hall. We split the players and parents into 5 teams, with 1 player from each age group, not sure on the parents age groups! Due to the parents, the rules were pretty lax, with players only allowed to score one goal in each game, and the parents had to score last!

The games were pretty even and after a set of round robin matches, we played two semi-finals and then a grand final across the full-sized court. Overall winners were the Orange team of Denva, Drew, Robyn, Linda and Coach Suzy. Well done, you won the honour of collecting all the futsal balls in!
The session finished with the presenting of the annual season awards, see the separate post for these.
Well what a first season it has been. We have had over 50 girls trying futsal, many for the very first time! We got two teams to the National Futsal Youth Finals in Birmingham, an amazing effort, we held the first ever York Futsal Cup in 4 age groups, we played the U14 Australian Futsal Team and played friendlies against teams from Hull and York. Unfortunately, we have lost some players to the local Regional Technical Centre and Leeds Utd Ladies, good luck to you all, keep in touch!
It really couldn’t have gone any better, huge thank you to all the players and parents for their amazing support, you are all sensational! We will be back in September, watch this space, and yes, we definitely need more players, so why not get involved?
