Shall We Play A Game? – Week 26 – Season 9

With this being the final full session before the coaches and 11 selected players head off to Italy, we decided there was only one way to do it – fun, fun, fun!
The Italy group still have one more session tomorrow evening, so we left the tactical and technical details for that. This morning was all about enjoying the game. As usual, the players were split into two groups, with our younger players in the first session and the older girls in the second.

There were no coaching interventions, no stop-start moments, and no endless repetitions. Instead, we simply let the girls play. Game after game, they were given the freedom to make decisions, express themselves, and enjoy their futsal. We didn’t stop to correct mistakes, restart situations, or ask them to do things differently. We just let the game flow.
Sometimes, the best thing a coach can do is step back and allow players to play with smiles on their faces. The energy, creativity, and enjoyment on show throughout both sessions reminded us exactly why we all love the game.

First Hour – Iris W – Wow, what a performance today from Iris! Taking the pressure off normal training and giving the players the freedom to express themselves really paid off, and Iris did exactly that. She showed great control on the ball, excellent movement, and impressive physicality to win possession. Her shooting was outstanding, and she probably scored the goal of the day to top off a fantastic performance. A brilliant day from a brilliant young lady. Keep up the amazing work, Iris! 🌟⚽👏
Second Hour – Miesha D – We have to keep reminding ourselves just how young this young lady really is. Miesha plays the game years beyond her age, and her composure on the ball is truly remarkable. Time and time again, she makes the right decision, picks the correct pass, and always seems capable of finding a goal when her team needs one most. Her understanding of the game and calmness under pressure are qualities many older players aspire to have. The future is incredibly bright for this one. Keep working hard, stay humble, and never change, Miesha – you’re a special talent! ⭐⚽👏

For many of our female futsal players, opportunities to travel and compete internationally are rare. That’s why taking them to an overseas tournament is so important. It offers experiences that go far beyond what can be learned in regular training sessions or domestic competition.
Representing their club or community in another country is something many players will remember for the rest of their lives. It allows them to step outside their comfort zones, experience different cultures, and see how the game is played beyond their own borders. Competing against international opposition challenges them to raise their standards, adapt to new situations, and develop both technically and mentally as athletes.
The impact, however, goes far beyond futsal. Travelling together builds friendships, strengthens team bonds, and creates memories that last a lifetime. Players learn independence, responsibility, resilience, and confidence—qualities that will benefit them long after their playing days are over.
For female athletes in particular, opportunities like these are powerful. They demonstrate that the women’s game deserves investment, ambition, and belief. They show young players that their hard work is valued and that there are no limits to what they can achieve through dedication and teamwork.
An overseas tournament is not simply a trip; it is an investment in personal growth, sporting development, and the future of women’s futsal. The lessons learned, the experiences gained, and the inspiration created will stay with these players long after the final whistle has blown.
