On Monday 23 October, Bootham Girls’ & Ladies’ Futsal Club – York were delight to be visited by Sion Kitson, the England Head Performance Coach & Technical Lead, who delivered a session to a group of 14 to 16 year olds and then one for the ladies team.

Head Coach Chris said, ‘We are extremely lucky for Sion to give up his time to pay us a visit and deliver 2 amazing sessions to the club. He is a fantastic coach, and from my point of view, just watching and listening to the detail he gave in his sessions was a lesson to me. I know the players, of all ages, really enjoyed the challenge and I hope this has shown them the level they need to achieve to reach to hopefully one day wear that England shirt.’

The girls’ academy were represented by Ava, Imogen, Katie D, Amie, Clare, Keira, Katie H, Abbie, Hannah, Sienna, Megan, Aria, Erin and Millie.

Chris went on to say, ‘The pathways we are developing from U8s right through to the ladies’ team, and who knows, an England player, show we are doing everything we can to offer females the chance to showcase their amazing talents at the very highest level, and yes, we have some amazing players at the club! We are delighted to confirm that Heather, Ava, Sophie, Katie D, Ruby and Katie V have all been offered trial days for the brand new England U19 Ladies Team. We wish them the all the very best of luck on their trial date in December 2023.’

The ladies were represented by Lucy, Allegra, Rowan, Ellie W, Colombe, Ellie R, Jess B, Nat, Jess B, Charli, Charlotte, Katie, Ruby, Suzy, Eleanor, Lauryn, Sophie, Ava, Heather and Freya.

He finished by saying, ‘Sion was impressed by the enthusiasm and numbers the club had at training. It was amazing for him to give up his time to travel to York and deliver these sessions. I would like to say a huge thank you from everyone associated with Bootham Futsal Club for his time and expertise, it was an amazing evening and one we hope we can repeat sometime in the near future.’
